Nationally recognized, CHHR is the premier credential based on sound assessment that delivers both internal and external rewards. Certification is awarded to those who meet the criteria and pass the CHHR certification exam.
The CHHR signifies:

- Knowledge of the health care environment and health care workforce needs.
- Ability to adapt this knowledge to individual health care organizations' needs and goals.

Program, exam, renewal and application information can be found in the CHHR Candidate Handbook and Application. A variety of study materials are available to assist candidates in preparing for the exam.
Certification requires renewal every three years. Renewal may be achieved by completing eligible professional development activities through ASHHRA or an Approved Education Provider. Renewal may also be accomplished by retaking and passing the CHHR exam.
About the American Hospital Association Certification Center (AHA-CC)
The CHHR exam is designed and administered by the American Hospital Association Certification Center (AHA-CC). The AHA-CC was created in 1999 to develop and manage certification programs first released in 2000. The AHA-CC is staffed with experts in certification (test development and administration) and contracts with Applied Measurement Professionals, Inc. (AMP) for their psychometric expertise in exam development and administration, among other services.
