ASHHRA defines the new-to-the-profession (NTTP) human resource practitioner as one who is new to the field of HR and/or new to health care HR, and has been working in the industry for five years or less. As a NTTP member, we recognize that your needs might be slightly different from the more seasoned HR professionals, so a concerted effort has been made to offer tools and resources especially for you.

The ASHHRA Mentoring Program is designed to create a mentorship community for health care HR professionals to enhance and grow knowledge, skills, and abilities to excel in your career.
The ASHHRA scholarships are designed to help you defray some of your costs to attend the ASHRHA annual conference. The objective is to provide you with a venue to receive educational tools and resources, and offer networking opportunities that assist you in your desire to grow within health care HR.

HR Leader Model
Developed by ASHHRA volunteer leaders, the HR Leader Model is the educational platform that health care HR practitioners use to enhance their HR knowledge. The goals are to identify the prerequisite core competencies you need to succeed in your profession and determine how ASHHRA can support you in bridging the gap to reach each competency. The five competencies are 1) HR Delivery, 2) Healthcare Business Knowledge, 3) Community Citizenship, 4) People Strategies, and 5) Personal Leadership.
ASHHRA holds Webinars on a monthly basis that cover hot topics in health care HR, which include Health Reform, Wellness, Immigration, Recruitment and Retention, Electronic Medical Records, Compensation, Advocacy, etc.
HR Pulse Magazine
It is the official magazine for ASHHRA members and is available in print and digital formats. You will find informative articles and case studies on HR best practices, industry updates, membership recognition, and product offerings from companies that provide solutions to the HR problems that keep you or your boss up at night.
HR Leader Self Assessment
This self assessment measures your skill level in the five competencies of the HR Leader Model and serves as the nucleus of ASHHRA education.
Based upon membership feedback, these specific benefits are most widely used by these practitioners but are not limited to them. We invite every ASHHRA member to take advantage of these benefits as well.
While most of what we offer is for ASHHRA members, there are other resources available to anyone interested in obtaining information on the health care HR field.
