Program Definition

The ASHHRA Leader Institute is designed for health care HR senior leaders and gives them the opportunity to partake in a forward-looking business curriculum designed for the leader and the organization to thrive through these transformational times in health care.  The two-year program, rooted in the ASHHRA HR Leader Model, will strengthen leaders’ ability to make lasting connections, manage strategic change and deliver high-performing business results.

Program Curriculum
Throughout the course of the two-year program, the leaders will complete coursework, rooted in the ASHHRA HR Leader model with a focus on five core competencies that are listed below.

I) Health Care Business Knowledge
Specific Areas of focus:
Embrace New Learning; Strategy and cultural alignment; Business acumen; Patient satisfaction; Quality clinical outcomes

II) People Strategies
Specific Areas of focus:
Lead with Your Heart; Workforce Effectiveness; Talent Management; Employee Engagement; Total Rewards; Organizational well-being; Best places to work; Succession planning; Labor and union issues

III) HR Delivery
Specific Areas of focus:
Reach Beyond the Expected; HR Function Effectiveness; HR Technology; HR Delivery Best Practices

IV) Community Citizenship
Specific Areas of focus:
Raise Your Voice; Building relationships; Partnering with external communities; Convening diverse groups

V) Personal Leadership
Specific Areas of focus:
Exemplify Excellence; Situational leadership; Leadership development

Program Outcomes:

• Develop a sharp line of sight to mission-critical business issues in health care
• Develop a network of influential health care leaders
• Deliver visionary leadership and tangible results to your organization

Program Participants
Participation in the ASHHRA Leader Institute is by invitation only.  Health care HR leaders who are vice presidents and above that work in a hospital or health care facility are invited to apply.  A limited number of participants will be accepted so we encourage you to complete the process now to secure your place.

Participant Criteria
You must meet the following criteria in order to apply:
• An ASHHRA member in good standing
• Hold the highest HR position in your organization
• Commit to the two-year program
• Letter of recommendation (preferably from organization's CEO)
• Tuition of $5,000 for the two-year program
