The ASHHRA Foundation was first announced at the 43rd Annual ASHHRA Conference & Exposition in Anaheim, Calif., on Oct. 1, 2007. During this event, the Foundation awarded nine conference scholarships to the following health care HR professionals:

Region 2: Marcia Telthorster, Doylestown, Pa.
Region 3: Val Short, Vice-President HR, Halifax Regional Medical Center, Roanoke Rapids, N.C.
Region 4: Francine Miguel, Director, Human Resources, Methodist North Hospital, Memphis, Tenn.
Region 5: Elizabeth Appleton, Director, Human Resources, Four County Counseling Center, Logansport, Ind.
Region 6: Steve Hodges, Vice-President, Human Resources, Regional West Medical Center, Scottsbluff, Neb.
Region 7: Diane Miguez, Human Resources Generalist, Children’s Hospital, New Orleans, La.
Region 8: Deb Morris, Director, Human Resources, Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital, Hamilton, Mont.
Region 9: Kathleen Groen, Employee/Labor Relations Manager, Northwest Hospital & Medical Center, Seattle, Wash.
Each applicant was awarded a $1,000 grant toward conference expenses. Requirements of applicants included the following:
