Mission
The purpose of the ASHHRA Foundation is to fund research, scholarship, and educational programs and activities related to the field of health care human resources and the role of the HR professional in the health care industry.
About the Foundation
The ASHHRA Foundation was established in 2007 by the American Society for Healthcare Human Resources Administration (ASHHRA), a professional membership group of the American Hospital Association, in cooperation with the Health Research and Educational Trust (HRET). HRET is the research and development affiliate of the American Hospital Association, which is tax exempt under section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
The ASHHRA Foundation programs are supported by contributions from individual members, chapters, and industry donors. Contributions to HRET, in support of the ASHHRA Foundation, are tax deductible within limitations of the Internal Revenue Code.

Foundation Advisory Council
All submissions will be reviewed and approved through the ASHHRA Foundation Advisory Council. The size, composition and structure of the council may differ depending on the purpose, roles and responsibilities and objectives of each year. The ASHHRA Foundation Advisory Council will be responsible for reviewing and approving submissions by unanimous approval. The Foundation will be accountable to the ASHHRA Board of Directors. The Board of Directors may supersede decisions made by the Foundation Advisory Council if necessary.
The Function of the Advisory Council is to ensure the following:
- Develop and evaluate professional industry criteria for awards.
- Develop and evaluate an operating plan that includes allocations and development goals.
- Develop and host the annual fundraising events, such as ASHHRA’s annual conference event.
- Develop and implement annual objectives and a strategic plan as appropriate.
